After a successful conflict check has been conducted, the first step we take when taking on a new matter is to conduct an initial consultation with the client. During this consultation, we gather information about the matter, including the facts, relevant dates, and any documentation the client may have. We also assess the client’s legal needs and determine whether we are the right firm.
After the initial consultation, we conduct a thorough evaluation of the matter. This may involve researching relevant laws, regulations, and policies, reviewing relevant documents, communications, or evidence, and conducting interviews with appropriate persons, witnesses, or experts. Based on this evaluation, we develop a time-sensitive agenda and legal strategy for the matter.
Throughout the course of the matter, we maintain regular communication with the client. This may involve providing updates on the matter’s progress, answering any questions the client may have, explaining legal concepts or procedures as necessary and providing, where applicable, formal opinions.
Once we have developed an agenda and a legal strategy and have communicated the same to the client, we then take the appropriate legal course of action. This may involve drafting legal documents, negotiating with opposing parties, representing the client in court/meetings, or taking other steps to achieve the desired legal outcome. Throughout the legal process, we continue to evaluate the case, adjust the agenda and legal strategy as necessary, and communicate with the client regarding any developments.
